Roofing & Warranties
Effective date: October 30, 2026
These are general explanations of LCKD’s roofing and exterior service practices. The specific accepted quote, job contract, applicable statutory notices and the issued warranty certificate govern each project. This page does not replace those documents.
1. Scope and written pricing
Before work begins, the customer should receive a written scope identifying the approved service, principal materials, price, taxes, allowances and excluded work. Roofing options may include architectural or other specified shingles, flat roof systems, underlayment, ice-and-water protection, ventilation, flashing, gutters and other items identified in the project quote. A website model or preliminary measurement is not a guaranteed final takeoff.
2. Deposits, acceptance and payment
For ordinary projects, a deposit is not routinely required before LCKD begins its preparation and scheduling process following signed customer acceptance. Specialty projects, custom work or selected jobs exceeding $20,000 may require a written deposit determined per job. No customer is required to pay an undisclosed deposit. The accepted contract controls the payment schedule, subject to applicable laws including mandatory consumer rights and construction holdbacks where relevant.
3. Scheduling and safety
Roofing and exterior timelines depend on weather, supplier lead times, permits, access, crew availability, building conditions and safety. The quote’s proposed start or duration is an estimate unless expressly guaranteed in the contract. Dangerous weather, unexpected structural conditions or other safety concerns may require a postponement. When reasonably possible, LCKD will communicate significant changes.
4. Hidden damage and changes
Decking, rot, water intrusion, structural deterioration, insulation conditions, mould or other concealed conditions may not be discoverable until removal or access. Additional work outside the agreed allowance should be described and approved through the appropriate change-order process. Unsafe conditions may require temporary work cessation; LCKD is not authorized by general website terms alone to impose a new price.
5. Worksite access and protection
Customers should ensure access to the work area, move vehicles and fragile outdoor items when asked, communicate known hazards, and keep children and pets clear of construction areas. LCKD is responsible for meeting its own contractual and legal safety obligations. Roof tear-off work may generate vibration, dust, debris and fasteners. Cleanup and the extent of property protection are governed by the accepted agreement and reasonable workmanship obligations.
6. Material availability and substitutions
Product specifications and colours must match the accepted contract, subject to written customer-approved substitutions or lawful contract provisions. Manufacturer colour variations, supply issues or discontinuations should be disclosed. A substitution of materially different products or price is not automatically authorized by these general website terms.
7. Good, Better and Best roofing warranties
LCKD has established the following intended tier framework for eligible roofing projects:
| Tier | Promised term | Backed by |
|---|---|---|
| Good | 20 years — material and labour | LCKD Roofing & Exteriors, subject to final certificate |
| Better | 20 years — material and labour | LCKD Roofing & Exteriors, subject to final certificate |
| Best | 30 years — material and labour | LCKD Roofing & Exteriors, subject to final certificate |
Before a long-term warranty is issued, LCKD will provide a formal warranty certificate defining covered work, covered materials, workmanship defects, exclusions, start date, maintenance obligations, proper claim notice, necessary inspections, manufacturer warranty coordination and available remedies. This overview should not be read as providing unlimited coverage for all damage to a property or as replacing the formal warranty certificate.
8. One-time warranty transfer
For a transferable LCKD roofing warranty, the homeowner may transfer it once to a subsequent eligible owner. When that transfer is made, the remaining term is reduced by 50%. A further transfer is not permitted. For example, if a 20-year warranty has 12 years remaining at transfer, the new owner may be entitled to six years, subject to the formal transfer procedure and other certificate terms. The exact documentation and any timing requirement must be described in the issued certificate.
9. Repairs, other services and new construction
The 20- and 30-year roofing tiers must not automatically be assumed to apply to minor repairs, gutters, lighting, insulation, siding, flat roof repairs, structural work or other unrelated services. Those services require their own written warranty terms, if any. Whether a given new-construction roof installation receives the same Good/Better/Best warranty must be confirmed in the applicable quote and issued certificate.
10. Warranty claim process
Customers should send a description of the issue, their address, supporting photos if available and their project reference to info@lckd.ca, or call 1-855-525-3065. Do not climb onto a roof or enter an unsafe space to document a claim. LCKD may arrange an inspection, identify whether the condition falls within the applicable warranty, and explain the next steps. Legitimate emergency mitigation should be discussed promptly where possible.
11. Cancellations and legal rights
Customers retain all non-excludable rights under applicable consumer-protection, construction and other Ontario laws. In qualifying circumstances, statutory cancellation periods may apply. Any deposit or cancellation charges must be disclosed and enforceable under applicable law; a general claim that every deposit is non-refundable would not override those rights. Disputes should first be directed to LCKD’s customer-service contact without limiting lawful remedies.
